Environmental responsibility

Environmental responsibility

The kind of world our children will grow up in is just as important as the kind of education they will receive. In the day to day conduct of business we all contribute to the carbon emissions being discharged into the atmosphere.

The ITiE Symposium 07 takes its environmental responsibilities seriously and will offset the carbon footprint of each delegate attending the event, by making a donation on behalf of each delegate to the following projects:

Renewable Energy, India
This project supports the construction of a small-scale hydro facility in the south of India which harnesses the water flow in an existing irrigation canal and feeds electricity into the local grid and reduces India's reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation. This will reduce emissions of 26,500 tonnes of CO2 between 2004 and 2012.

Forestry Projects, Mexico
A pioneering project set up under the Plan Vivo system, which aims to alleviate poverty by working with communities in southern Mexico on a variety of a forestation and reforestation projects which will help to offset over 30,000 tonnes of CO2 over a 100 year period.

Wildlife Projects, UK
Located in the heart of the Scottish Borders, this forest site covers 13 hectares of land that will be planted with native woodland species.
